Barbados Vacation

February 14 to February 21, 2004

Home

Not to be outdone by Hula and Bob, I took a little vacation of my own this year.

Sunny Barbados!

It was great.

Somehow I managed to survive a week of too much sun, too much food and too much booze.

Take a look.

Yola, my travel buddy.  It's 8:30a.m. and we are in Philadelphia
Airport, enjoying a 22 ounce draft.

We decided that the next vacation we take will be just to Philly Airport, where
there's a bar every three steps and whatever you don't finish, they put in a
traveller for you to take with you.

Still in Philly.

Yola and Pops at Splash for our first rum punch of the trip.

Pops and I at Bert's Bar, where we had many banana daiquiri's.
We ended up here about once every day on our trip.

Me and Yola at Bert's.  We lost big-time on those slots.

Still at Bert's.

Pops and Yola waiting for a taxi.

Out walking around on Sunday, taking in the flora.

Mumsy getting off the plane after an unplanned trip to England.

Mumsy, glad to be back on the island.

You can't see too well, but it's pouring rain.  This is day two.  Thank God it
cleared up.  This is the golf course behind Mumsy and Pops' condo.

Yolande having an afternoon nap.

Pops and I practicing for our big show.

These are people that stay at the same resort at M&P.
They were a lot of fun.

Mumsy singing up a storm.

Listening intently.

Still listening.

Mumsy feeding the birds in the morning.  It's her morning ritual.

More birds.

This is the Moke!
Believe it or not, this is what we drove around in all week (on the left).

Playing guitar around the pool.

Pops given'er.

We went for a drive around the island and stopped in a little bar.
Mumsy looking a little constipated.

Yola, Pops and Mumsy.

Scenery

More scenery.

More scenery.

More scenery.

We stopped and had lunch on top of a hill at the Round House.

Mumsy at the bar.

View from the Round House.  (see our Moke in the bottom left).

More scenery.

Pops coming down the stairs from the Round House.

Little frog on Pops' porch.
These little critters sing in the trees all night.

My poor feet.  Sunburnt and blistered from my sandals.
I have them covered with #45 space shuttle re-entry lotion.

Yola trashed at Champers.  Edwina eat your heart out.

Mumsy at Champers.

Me and my Mumsy.

Me and Yola.

Just me.

Starters for dinner.  We had a fabulous meal.

Pops.

Don't ask me what I was doing here.
I think I was doing my rasta man impression.

More foolishness.

And more.

This is the restaurant in our hotel.
Little birds come and sit right on the tables.

More birds.

Me on the beach with a large, home made caesar in me.

The foreboding Yola.

This is Doc, one of the locals.  He took us out to a few bars.

Me and Mumsy.

Yola and Doc.

Weevie and Doc.

We spent Friday on a catamaran at a memorial service for a family friend who
passed away a few months ago.  This is a little side cafe where we had some
drinks before getting on the boat.

The guitars are ready to go.

More of the folks.

This is on the boat.

Pops telling fish tales.

Fran and the baby.

Enjoying the sun.

Chit-chatting with one of the crew.

On the right is MJ.  It was her husband that the memorial was for.
She did a really nice speech.

Jacob's Ladder.

Some cruise ships.

The guy in front is Jimmy.  He was a laugh and a half.

That's his wife, Barb.

More cruise ships.

That's our sail.

Beautiful sunset.

Barb's daughters taking in the scenery.

Milling about.

Enjoying the sunset.

This is the cruise ships at night..

Mumsy & Pops all tanned.

I was burnt to a crisp on my last day.

Me and Mumsy.

Me and Pops and one of the crew.
The crew was amazing.

These are out of sync, but here are some pics that I got from Pops.

Sunning on the beach.

The awesome foursome in the sun.

Lunch at Splash.

Yola getting some relief from the sun.

Mumsy at Splash.

Pops.

This is our hotel.  Here comes Mumsy.

Here comes Weevie.

Here come's Yola.  It's like the red carpet.

Me and my wife on the beach.

Walking in the water.  (This is how I burnt my feet.)

Charlie's Angels do the Carribean.

Yola and I at the beach bar.

Cruisin' around the island in the Moke.
We got seriously lost a couple of times.

Taking a break from driving.

Yola reading the map, trying to get us unlost.

Mumsy perusing the menu.

I look drunk in this pic, but I haven't even had one drink yet.

Mumsy at the Round House.

Reclining at the beach, rum punch in hand.

Get a frame.

Exhausted after a long drive.  Here we are waiting for dinner
on Mumsy & Pops' front porch.

Mumsy & Yola.

Get another frame.

Edwina back at Champers.
